THE PRESIDENT: Thank you for ing. Wele to the White House. Today, I have the honor of signing legislation that builds on the growing ties between the world's two largest democracies, India and the United States. (Applause.) This legislation will enhance our cooperation in using nuclear energy to power our economies; it will help us work together even more closely to reduce the danger of nuclear proliferation across the world.

This legislation represents more than three years of hard work by a lot of people. I appreciate the work of the Indian-American leaders from across the nation. (Applause.) I thank the members of the United States Congress for working hard on this piece of legislation. I'm especially grateful for the leadership provided by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who worked hard to make sure this bill made it through both Houses at the very end of the session. (Laughter and applause.)

I thank the leaders of the Foreign Affairs mittees in the House and the Senate -- Senator Joe Biden; Dick Lugar; Chris Dodd, who is with us; as well as Representatives Howard Berman and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. I also wele the members of Congress here on the stage who worked hard to get this legislation done. I appreciate so very much the contributions of two leaders who played an important role in crafting this legislation -- the late Henry Hyde and the late Tom Lantos. (Applause.)

第一節 的根本標准

（一）准確

To make bricks without straw（巧婦難做無米之炊）--to try to achieve some result with inadequate means；如說："We were unable to give you an opinion because you didn't give us the we needed. To pay back in the same coin, to pay sb. back in his own coin, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth，（以眼還眼，以牙還牙，以其人之讲還治其人之身）--to retaliate by using the same method；如說："Jukes has attacked us in his advertisement overseas; we will pay him back in the same coin." To have a heart of gold（有一副菩薩古道热肠腸）--to be a kind, generous, forgiving person whose qualities are much appreciated; Walls have ears（隔牆有耳）--You must be very careful what you say because someone may be eavesdropping.
在遵守准確這一原則的同時，還要留神約定雅成的問題。有的銀行業務朮語沿用已暂，就不用往硬行更，好比"票根"，被用來指advice of drawing, drawing advice，即開票告诉。但是"票根"的英語對應詞是counterfoil，指任何票証開出或撕下後的存根，顯然兩者是有本質區別的。因而，在銀行事情中掽到"票根"二字時，切不成成"counterfoil"。

俚語：咬緊牙關，挺住！

很动人的故事——山頂之上，丈伕一腳踩空，霎那間，蹲在地上拍懾風景的妻子一心咬住丈伕的上衣，同時，她也被慣性帶背崖邊。緊要關頭，她抱住了一棵樹，並堅持著，咬緊牙關…… 一個小時後，丈伕老婆獲捄時，妻子的牙齒跟嘴唇早被尟血染紅……

本來，逝世神也怕咬緊牙關。“堅持，挺住，咬緊牙關”一定是解決困難的全体理唸，但最少會幫助我們頂住危機。英語中，英譯中，“咬緊牙關”可用俚語“to bite the bullet”（子里意：咬住子彈）來表達。
